Allow for “Alcohol-to-go” purchases to become a permanent fixture
AMHERST, NY – Amherst Chamber of Commerce President/CEO A.J. Baynes joins Chamber member and restauranteur Ellie Grenauer agreeing with the New York State Restaurant Association's call for making a permanent change to the SLA Law allow restaurants the ability to provide alcohol sales with takeout or delivery.
"While the pandemic was crippling to businesses across the globe, restaurants paid a very steep price with the shutdown," said Baynes. "However, during any crisis, there is an opportunity, and the state looked for creative ways to allow restaurants to grow their bottom line by allowing them to include alcohol sales with any to-go purchase. It was not only welcomed by the restaurants but has been incredibly well-received by all patrons."
Ellie Grenauer, co-owner of Glen Park Tavern and a Board Director of the New York State Restaurant Association, applauded the Chamber for their efforts. "The Chamber has been extremely active in supporting restaurants throughout the region, and I can tell you firsthand we have heard throughout the state just how important the continuation of this policy is for every restaurant."
With three weeks remaining in the legislative session, the Chamber supports the New York State Restaurant Association's efforts by calling on our legislators in Albany to make this a permanent fixture.
