AMHERST, NY – Amherst Chamber of Commerce President/CEO A.J. Baynes announces the Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of newly-expanded Heathwood Assisted Living at 815 Hopkins Road in Williamsville.
Heathwood recently completed construction on its new three-story addition of 42 assisted living apartments. Together with its original campus, Heathwood now provides more than 120 apartments for those needing assisted living, enhanced assisted living and memory care services.
“Heathwood has a long legacy in Amherst of caring for our senior residents,” says Baynes. “Its growth is vital as our community ages and the demand for these services increases.”
Congressman Brian Higgins, Amherst Supervisor Brian Kulpa, and Erie County Legislator Ed Rath will join Heathwood owners, the Chur Family for the ribbon cutting.
Heathwood is owned and operated locally by the third generation of the Chur Family. Robert and Mary Chur operated a skilled nursing facility in East Aurora. His son Robert and wife Carol founded Heathwood in Williamsville in 1978 and today, the company is owned and operated by their daughter, Carla Suero.
“Years ago, skilled nursing was the only option for the aging,” says Suero. “Today, people are living longer and are looking for more, less expensive living arrangements when they can no longer stay at home. We are proud to offer this peace of mind for residents and their families.”
Heathwood offers one-bedroom, two-bedroom, suite and studio apartments each with a kitchenette and private bath. There are also private bedrooms with a private bath. Meals are provided, as well as daily activities and 24/7 nursing supervision.
